During the 1994 summer, he went down to visit his Uncle Pete on his farm in a rural farming community. There he would spend time with cousins: Mark a local baseball player who shared his interest, but was older than him and mostly hung out with his own friends. And his other cousin Anne who was around the same age as him. She wasn't much of a sports person. One afternoon he and Anne were playing a game of catch.

Then from a distance he threw a pitch, he asked her to catch but she missed it. So the ball smashed right through the window of the front door. His Uncle Pete, was furious and punished them by having Mark confiscate the baseball gloves. Then he and his cousin had to do back breaking labor to work off the fee for a new window. Only after working it off, would they get their gloves back.

Their first job was to deliver some beans to a farm down the road. On the way, they passed by the old Earlstead's old barn. Thinking the barn looked cool, he wanted to check it out. Outside of it, he could see Mr. Earlstead's gravestone. Seeing that he was A little intrigued, Anne told him that people used to say that John Earlstead was some sort of sorcerer who had invisible servants working on his farm.

He didn't believe her, but when he entered the barn he was excited. He believed that all the old wooden planks could be tore down. Then he could use them to build their own dugout. When his cousin helped him tear some boards down, suddenly a closet opened. Then an old scarecrow fall out. He believed that the scarecrow could scare the deer away from their garden. So he and Anne carried the scarecrow back home.

Soon he and Anne set the scarecrow up in their garden. He told Mark that it could scare away the deer. Mark said it wouldn't work. So he and Anne still had to build a new fence with him. Next Mark asked if they deliver the beans yet. Now they remembered that they forgot them at Mr. Earlstead's barn. So he and Anne went to get them back. Soon he and Anne got back the sack of beans and were about to leave.

Then suddenly he and his cousin were ambushed by Crazy George. He listened to Crazy George mumble and rant incoherently about how he couldn't find certain dragons. He And Anne were just terrified and backed away in shock. Then Crazy George told him that whoever had the dragons can control the silent servant by saying "Calevactor Sellemnos". Crazy George also told he and his cousin to be warned. Once the word is given it can't be undone, because it is always listening. Also that only the true master can control it. So now it runs free. Crazy George began to laugh manically as he and his cousin ran away.

Then back home, his cousin explained to him that Crazy George: Mr. Earlstead's old farmhand until he went crazy. Then his cousin point out that earlier she found an old talisman in the scarecrow. It had two little dragons on it. So it must have been the dragons that Crazy George was talking about. Then he looked at it and he twisted one of the knobs off and out came a scroll. The scroll had an incantation. It piqued his interest. So he read it out loud. As he did, The scarecrow outside heard every word. Then after he finished, a thunderstorm began outside.

A little later, when taking out the trash he got frustrated and fed up with doing the farming chores. So kicked the scarecrow. Then he rudely asked it deliver the beans and to fix the window for them. The next morning, he was surprised to see the front door window all fixed like new. Uncle Pete said it was not him. In fact nobody knew who fixed it. He and Anne were also thanked them for the beans. Although they were not the ones who delivered them. He and Anne soon realized that the silent servant did.

Near the end of the day He, Anne and Mark all worked really hard on the new garden fence. Mark then prepared to go to his baseball game and gave him permission to come to it. He was now fed up of working on the fence. So he commanded the scarecrow to finish it for them.

A little later, Mark was very pleased with them. Turns out the garden fence was all finished. Mark was so pleased, that he gave him and Anne the afternoon off. Feeling satisfied, he now commanded the silent servant to build him a dugout for their baseball field. Then a little later, He and Anne come back home from a bike ride. He was thrilled to see that a baseball dugout had been built.

Suddenly he heard Mark's angry voice asking to see them. Mark was furious to see that the garden fence had been torn apart. It would seem that thee silent servant made the dugout from the fence. He and Anne tried to tell him the truth, explaining to Mark that the evil scarecrow did it. Mark didn't believe them. So he and Anne got grounded them for the night. Although Mark didn't let him come to his baseball game, he tried to make it up to him by giving them the bag that had the baseball gloves in it.

Later that night, he was furious to find that someone stole his glove. Anne told him that Mark wouldn't take his glove. Now without meaning it, he madly said out loud: "I'D LIKE TO KILL WHOEVER DID!". Then Anne mentioned to him that although he didn't mean to say that, the scarecrow still heard him. Worried they look out the window. The scarecrow was no longer in the garden. So he tried to break the talisman but it wouldn't break.

He and Anne rush over to Mark's baseball game to warn him. They make it to the clearing where Mark and his team are celebrating their win. He and Anne warned him that the scarecrow was coming to kill him because he took his glove. Mark, then revealed that he meant to give them their gloves back, but Uncle Pete gave him the wrong bag. So he had the gloves. So he and Anne convinced Mark into driving them over to Mr. Earlstead's barn. His cousin now believed that only the true master can separate the dragons: whether dead or alive.

Then while his Uncle sat down in the field is waiting for someone to bring him the tractor parts he needed, the scarecrow walked up to him from behind and was about to close in on him from behind and kill him!

Then his cousin approached Mr. Earlstead's gravestone. Next she held the talisman in both hands and she said: "Only the true master can separate the dragons". Then she smacked down the middle of the talisman on the edge of the gravestone and it snapped in half. Since the gravestone was a holy item. Then the scarecrow instantly teleported to them. Then she said to it: "Calevactor Sellemnos, go back to where you came from!". Then suddenly the Scarecrow vanished and collapsed into a pile of clothes.

Then just after they getting into the vehicle to drive back home, two hands picked up the two pieces of the talisman. The person was Crazy George. He joined them back together and laughed manically, believing that power was now all his!
